Ending football

Our high school football season wraps ups this weekend with the State Football Championship games. This will be our 14th consecutive year broadcasting all of the state title games from Stark County. We have seen some outstanding high school games during that time but ironically, the very first title game we did back in 1996 is still the best game I have ever seen. Mogadore defeated St. Henry 61-58 in triple overtime to win the Division 6 State Championship. Mogadore was down 35-3 late in the second quarter but came back to win. It is a decent amount of work preparing for 12 teams that we haven't seen this year, but it is a lot of fun for us when the weekend arrives. We thought when we started covering all of the games that listeners would be interested, after all, we have done the same thing for basketball for twenty years, Fortunately we were right. We continue to get good comments from folks all over northeast and north-central ohio. Basketball season also starts this weekend and we'll jump into our local high school coverage next week but for one more weekend, it's football. 15 weeks, gone in a blink.
