Raber wins State Title

Orrville senior Dennis Raber captured the 160-pound state championship Saturday night in Columbus. Raber defeated Nick LeForce of Carlisle in double overtime 4-3 to win his state title. He becomes the third Red Rider to win a state wrestling title, joining Jack Leeder (1985) and Shane Hartzler (1996).
Two area locals finished runners-up in the state tournament. Northwestern junior Kurtis Schaefer lost the 189-pound title match to Clinton-Massie's Corby Running 7-6. Also, Chippewa senior Justin Schrafrath lost the 215-pound state title to
Ethan Hayes of New Lebanon Dixie 9-4.
Finishing in fourth place locally were Chippewa's Bryson Hall (162), Waynedale's Jonathan Beam (189) and Loudonville's Brent Allerding (215).
In eighth place were Waynedale's Justin Petersheim (135) and Tuslaw's Zane Nelson (140).
