Nearly a dozen different fire departments in Wayne County have been chosen to receive MARCS radio grants from the Ohio Department of Commerce.  All told, a combined $52,000 will be distributed to eleven departments, with the largest amount, $21,000, going to the fire department in New Pittsburg.  The MARCS radio system allows first responders to communicate, not only with each other, but with other agencies responding to an emergency.  The MARCS grants are available annually to fire departments that service areas with a population of 25,000 people or less.
