The top three picks in the 2020 NFL draft had more than a big night. They made history.
For the first time in the common draft era (since 1967), the first three selections all played at the same college at one point. Quarterback Joe Burrow, defensive end Chase Young and defensive back Jeff Okudah — the top three picks, respectively — were all at Ohio State up until 2018, when Burrow transferred to LSU. Young and Okudah finished their careers with the Buckeyes last season while Burrow led LSU to a national championship and won the Heisman Trophy.
The Washington Redskins’ selection of Chase Young with the No. 2 overall pick gave the Buckeyes 82 first-round picks all-time, moving them one pick ahead of USC’s total of 81 first-round selections.
Ohio State finished the night with 84 all-time first-round picks, as Jeff Okudah was selected No. 3 overall by the Detroit Lions and Damon Arnette drafted No. 19 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders.
