The the Indians scored four runs on four hits in the seventh to avoid a three-game sweep on the way to a 9-3 win over the Tigers at Comerica Park.

Yu Chang singled home two runs off Daniel Norris (0-1) to give the Indians a 4-3 lead. Jordan Luplow added a two-run homer to make it 6-3. It was Luplow’s first hit since last season. He went 0-for-17 in spring training and was 0-for-5 headed into the seventh.

Amed Rosario and Josh Naylor started the inning with a single and a ground-rule double off Norris. Franmil Reyes kept the offense going with a two-run homer off Buck Farmer in the eighth. Even catcher Austin Hedges, who struck out in 21 of his 37 spring-training at-bats (57%), joined the fun with a leadoff homer in the ninth.

Aaron Civale (1-0, 3.86 ERA) worked around two homers in the first three innings to go seven innings for the win. He struck out six, walked three and allowed three runs.
