A two-vehicle accident early yesterday morning in Wayne County’s Congress Township claimed the lives of two people. The crash, involving a semi and a box truck, took place at around 3:30am, in the northbound lanes of I-71. According to the Highway Patrol, the semi was pulled over on the right berm, after hitting a deer, when the box truck veered onto the berm and struck it from behind. The semi’s driver, a 26-year old man from New York, was not injured, while the driver of the box truck, a 30-year old man from Trumbull County, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two passengers in the box truck, however, a 21-year old man from Youngstown and a 30-year old Girard man, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
