The State Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle accident last week at the intersection of U.S. Route 42 and Davis Road near Ashland. Authorities say that the incident happened on Thursday when a pick-up truck first struck a guard-rail at the intersection of U.S. Route 42 and County Road 995, then backed up and drove away. A short time later , the male driver reportedly went left of center at the Davis Road / 42 intersection, then drove off the right side of the road into a ditch and striking a tree. Witnesses say that the man appeared to be very intoxicated with multiple containers of alcohol in the vehicle. He was later transported by Ashland EMS to UH Samaritan Medical Center, where his condition was not disclosed.
