According to a recent analysis of federal and state dam records by the Associated Press, three dams are considered to be “ high hazard” in Wayne and Ashland Counties. The Shreve Lake Dam is considered to be in “ unsatisfactory” condition, while Lake Wapasun Dam and the Artesian Lake Dam in Ashland County are listed as being in “ poor “ condition. Overall, in the state of Ohio, more than 100 dams make the list as being either in “ poor” or  “unsatisfactory” condition.
