As expected, a large number of local voters headed to the polls for last week’s special election involving State Issue 1. According to Wayne County Board of Elections Director Julie Leathers-Stahl, more than 30,000 votes were cast last week, which is nearly 42% of the county’s registered voters. By comparison, less than 11,000 Wayne County residents showed up to vote in May’s Primary Election.
