The Cleveland Guardians fell to the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night by a final score of 4-3, snapping the Guardians four-game win streak.

For Cleveland (4-2), designated hitter Josh Naylor got the Guardians on the scoreboard with a groundout to score a run in the 4th inning, while that same inning first baseman Gabriel Arias hit a solo homerun to tie at 2-2. Third baseman Jose Ramirez hit an RBI double in the 5th inning to take the lead at 3-2. Starting pitcher Shane Bieber went 6.0 innings, struck out seven batters and allowed three hits for three earned runs. Relief pitcher James Karinchak suffered his second loss of the season for going 0.2 inning, striking out a batter but allowing a hit to score the game-winning run for Oakland.

For Oakland (2-3), the Athletics got out to an early lead in the 3rd inning due to outfielder Esteury Ruiz hitting an RBI double and third baseman hitting a sacrifice fly to score a run, giving Oakland a 2-0 lead. After the Guardians stormed back to take the lead, Oakland tied the game at 3-3 in the 6th inning when second baseman Tony Kemp scoring from third on a wild pitch by Shane Bieber. Kemp would later hit a game-winning RBI single in the 9th inning to win the game for the A’s. Starting pitcher JP Sears went 4.2 innings, struck out five batters and allowed eight hits for three earned runs. Relief pitcher Trevor May got his second win of the season for going a scoreless 1.0 inning in the 9th and striking out a batter.

The Guardians will take on the Athletics again in the final game of the road series on Wednesday, April 5th, with first pitch set for 3:40 p.m.
