Authorities continue to investigate the cause of a deadly crash that happened in Ashland County over the weekend. According to the Highway Patrol, the crash occurred Saturday night just before 11 p.m. on State Route 603 in Mifflin Township when a Ford Mustang was headed south on 603 failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway and struck a ditch causing the vehicle to partially overturn. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Alexander Switzer, of Lucas, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger of the vehicle was taken to a Mansfield hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Switzer was not wearing a seat belt at the time, and speed and alcohol are considered factors in the crash.
