The Cleveland Browns defeated the New York Jets in the preseason Hall of Fame Game on Thursday night by a final score of 21-16.
For Cleveland, quarterbacks Kellen Mond and rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson both took snaps under center. Mond got the start and went the first half of the game, going 13-19 passing for 92 yards with one touchdown and interception. Thompson-Robinson got the nod in the second half and went 8-11 passing for 82 yards with a touchdown, while also rushing for 37 yards.
Running back Demetric Felton had seven carries for 46 yards and a touchdown, while fellow running back John Kelly Jr. had 10 carries for 42 yards to go along with four catches for 27 yards and a touchdown.
Wide receiver Austin Watkins Jr. had two catches for 35 yards and a touchdown, wide receiver Cedric Tillman had two catches for 35 yards, and tight end Zaire Mitchell-Paden had three catches for 22 yards.
For New York, quarterbacks Zach Wilson, Tim Boyle and Chris Streveler both saw time. Wilson got the start and went 3-5 passing for 65 yards, Tim Boyle went 6-11 passing for 61 yards, and Chris Streveler went 1-7 passing for nine yards and an interception.
Running back Israel Abanikanda had nine carries for 27 yards and a touchdown.
The Browns’ next preseason game will be a home matchup with the Washington Commanders on Friday, August 11th, with kick-off set for 7:30 p.m.
