The Ohio State Buckeyes men’s basketball team defeated the Oakland Golden Grizzlies on Monday night by a final score of 79-73.

For Ohio State (1-0), the Buckeyes were led by three different players who scored 17 points: sophomore guard Bruce Thornton, sophomore guard Roddy Gayle Jr. and senior forward Zed Key. Freshman guard Scotty Middleton also was an impact with 13 points off the bench.

As a team, Ohio State shot 46.2% from the field, including 28% (7-25) from beyond the 3-point line, and were able to get to the free-throw line consistently and shot 24-30 from the line.

For Oakland (0-1), senior guard Jack Gohlke led the Golden Grizzlies with 18 points, junior forward Trey Townsend had 17 points and nine rebounds, and senior guard Blake Lampman scored 14 points.

The Buckeyes will next be at home to take on No. 15-ranked Texas A&M on Friday, November 10th, at 7 p.m.
