Capt. Doug Hunter is settling into his first full week of retirement. Hunter officially retired from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office last Thursday, after a 42-year career in law enforcement. In addition to his role as Captain, Hunter was also the voice of the sheriff’s office, serving as its public information officer. Hunter also ushered in the use of social media, starting the department’s Facebook page, which currently has more than 65,000 followers. In recent years, Hunter became well known for his Daily Update videos that the sheriff’s office posted on its various social media platforms.
