Medina City Council passed an ordinance this week that will put an initiative on the May 4th ballot to allow the city to rejoin the county’s courthouse project. The initiative will ask voters to allow the city to rejoin the project, after voters approved Issue 7 in November, which prevents the city from putting any money towards that project. The city’s legal council found that the only way around that ordinance was to put this initiative in front of the voters. Should the initiative be approved, the city would join back into the project, which would see the city take over the 1969 portion of the courthouse, thus moving Medina Municipal Court into that building.
