The company hired to develop a comprehensive plan for Holmes County and the village of Millersburg gave county commissioners their first look at the plan this week. The plan reportedly came together through the efforts of a steering committee of residents, county representatives, village officials and a planning consultant. Commissioners say the document will serve as a guide for everything from establishing public policy in land use, to economic development, infrastructure and capital improvements. The planning commission, the Holmes County Community Improvement Corp. and the village of Millersburg each covered one-third of the plan’s $100,000 price tag. The next step in the process is for commissioners to officially approve the plan.
