New COVID-19 infections have increased for the third week in Wayne County, prompting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to hike the county’s transmission status to high.
This is the third straight week the CDC has increased Wayne County’s transmission status based on novel coronavirus infections.
The decision comes one week after the CDC raised the county’s transmission rating from moderate to substantial. Wayne County is one of 48 Ohio counties in the high category.
A total of 228 Wayne County residents have died from coronavirus or coronavirus-related complications with 9,436 total infections since March 2020.
Ashland and Holmes counties remain at high and moderate levels of transmission respectively.
