On Tuesday night, the Creston Village Council voted that Bryon Meshew will retain his job as chief of police of the village amid allegations of poor job performance from Mayor John Hall Jr.

Nearly 100 people filed into Murray Hall on Tuesday evening to hear the outcome of the meeting. The final vote from the six-member council was 4-2 in favor of keeping Meshew on board as chief of police, which is a position that he has held for almost 12 years.

Meshew stated that he hopes to try and ease the tension between the police department and the mayor’s office, while Hall stated that tensions may be a problem, but hopes that the village will be able to move forward.
