Adventure Begins @ Your Library! – The 2024 Summer Reading Program, June 3rd through July 20th There are reading programs for all ages and chances to win some great prizes! Registration begins May 28th at the Central Library or East Branch.

Summer Reading Kick-Off! @ the Central Library, Friday, May 31st from 4pm-6pm.  Sign-up for the Summer Reading Program, from 4pm-6pm, and experience the Leaping Lizards animal show, enjoy the bounce house, the photo booth, face painting, and read to a Therapy dog! The Holmes County board of DD and the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Wayne & Holmes Counties will also be on-site, providing information and activities.

Storytimes @ the East Branch – Wednesdays @ 10:30am, May 1st, 8th, 15th, & 22nd. Kids ages 2-5, with and adult, are invited to join us for stories, songs, & rhymes!

 

Storytimes @ the Central Library – Fridays @ 10:30am, May 3rd & 10th. Kids ages 2-5, with and adult, are invited to join us for stories, songs, & rhymes!

 

Little Learners Playgroup @ the Central Library – Fridays @ 11am, May 3rd & 10th. Kids up to age 5, with an adult, will engage in activities to promote reading and social skills. Snacks will be provided.

 

Family Movie Matinee @ the Central Library – Saturday, May 4th @ 11 am.  Join us for an encore showing of the animated movie, “Migration” – rated PG.

 

Little Writers’ Workshop @ the Central Library – Tuesday, May 7th @ 5:30pm-6:30pm.  The West Holmes Middle School Power of the Pen, hosted by the Holmes County District Public Library, will offer an opportunity to learn about writing activities and storytelling for kindergarten – 4th graders. Students are encouraged to bring pre-written stories. Contact the WHMS Power of the Pen Coach, to register, or with any questions, at [email protected] or call 330-231-6359.

 

Author Becca Wierwille @ the Central Library, Saturday, May 11th from 10:30am-12pm.  Meet the author and talk about her new book “Road Trip Rescue”. Books will be available for purchase.

 

Paws to Read @ the Central Library – Saturday, May 11th from 11 am – 12 pmKids are invited to read to a certified therapy dog from Caring Therapy Canines.  

 

Make Your Own Bath Bombs @ the Central Library – Tuesday, May 14th @ 5:30 pm.  Kids middle school age and up will create a bath bomb using a variety of colors and fragrances. Registration is required.

 

Succulent Workshop @ the Central Library – Saturday, May 18th @ 10am.  Discover the charm of succulents! This workshop will cover the basics of potting succulents and participants will have the opportunity to pot their own plant to take home. Intended for adults and teens. Registration is required.

 

Kids Craft Night @ the Central Library – Thursday, May 23rd @ 5:30 pm.  Kids in elementary school will have the opportunity to make their own squishie, a beaded firefly, and a pipe cleaner turtle. Snacks will be provided. Registration is required.

 

Book Discussion for Adults – Tuesday, May 28th @ 1pm @ the Central Library – discussing “Only the Beautiful” by Susan Meissner, & @ 6pm –Jitters Coffee House – discussing “Wandering Stars”, by Tommy Orange.
