October Craft Kit for Teens – Available at the Central Library or East Branch “Frankentoys” kit includes materials to make a “creative” toy by mixing and matching different toy parts.
Storytime! @ the East Branch – Wednesdays @ 10:30am, October 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th Children ages 2-5 with an adult are invited to join us for stories, activities, and songs!
Storytime! @ the Central Library – Fridays @ 10:30am, October 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th Kids ages 2 – 5 with an adult, are invited for stories, activities, and songs!
Paws to Read – Saturday, October 8th, from 11am to 12pm at the Central Library Kids will read to a licensed therapy dog from Caring Therapy Canines.
Myths & Legends of Holmes County – Thursday, October 13th @ 6:30pm at the Central Library You’ve heard of some of the myths and legends of Holmes County; it’s time to learn more about Tom Lyons, Panthers Hollow, Salem Cemetery, Bigfoot, UFO Sightings and more! This program will be presented by 3 Sister’s Publications’, Mary Tipton, Shelly Spade, and Cheryl Fields, authors of the book Holmes County Hair Raisers.
Family Movie Matinee – Saturday, October 15th @ 11am at the Central Library Showing on the big screen, the story of a character’s adventure to infinity and beyond! Bring a chair or blanket, snacks and drink with a lid. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Call the library for the movie title, rated PG.
Friends of the Library Movie Event for Adults – Saturday, October 15th @ 2pm at the Central Library Showing this 2022 release on the big screen, this movie is about a widowed cleaning lady in 1950s London who falls madly in love with a couture Dior dress, and decides that she must have one of her own. Hosted by the Holmes County Friends of the Library organization. Call the library for the movie title, rated PG.
LEGO Building Challenge – Monday, October 17th from 5:30pm-6:45pm at the Central Library Ages 6-12 can join us for some LEGO building fun. LEGOS and ideas are provided.
The History of Aprons – Tuesday, October 18th @ 6pm at the Central Library Presented by Kate Shumaker, OSU Extension Services; Aprons are part of the “fabric” of our history. From the practical to the pretty – Kate will tell their story. Registration is required for this adult program.
Boo Bash – Friday, October 21st @ 5:30pm at the Central Library Kids up to age 12 and their families are invited for some after-hours spooky fun! We’ll have games, crafts, photo ops, tricks and treats! Registration is required.
Book Discussion for Adults, Tuesday, October 25 @ 1pm at the Central Library – discussing “The Personal Librarian” by Marie Benedict, and @ 6pm at Jitters Coffee House – discussing “The Thursday Murder Club” by Richard Osman. Books are available to borrow at the Central Library.
The Friends of the Library Booksale – Thursday, October 27th from 5pm-7pm is “members only”. Friday, October 28th, Saturday, October 29th, Monday, October 31st and Tuesday, November 1st during regular business hours at the Central Library.
Stop by the Central Library and browse the used books and materials available, with prices posted. There is something for everyone!
