Library Card Sign-Up Month
Library cards empower students, fuel academic success and make the world accessible from home! “See where your card can take you!”
(CANAL FULTON, OH) – September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, a time when the Canal Fulton Public Library joins the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide to remind parents, caregivers and students that signing up for a library card is the first step on the path to academic achievement and lifelong learning.
There is nothing more empowering than signing up for your own library card. Through access to technology, media resources and educational programs, a library card gives students the tools to succeed in the classroom and provides people of all ages opportunities to pursue their dreams and passions. The Canal Fulton Library has created a new library card profile that allows students to obtain a library card without requiring a parent or guardian’s signature.
Libraries can offer everything from early literacy programs to virtual homework help and GED classes, helping to transform lives and communities through education. At the Canal Fulton Public Library, you’ll find a variety of educational resources and activities, including storytimes, access to a large collection of materials and databases, and early learning backpacks.
“Libraries play an important role in the education and development of children,” said David Brown, Canal Fulton Library Director. “We have library programs that serve student of all ages and backgrounds such storytimes for multiple age ranges, a children’s book club, a teen craft each month, and a few study space options for any student.”
Canal Fulton Public Library, along with libraries everywhere, continue to adapt and expand services to meet the evolving needs of our communities. To sign-up for a library card or to learn more about the library’s resources and programs, please visit www.canalfultonlibrary.org, call us at (330) 854-4148 or stop in the library in person!
During September, the Canal Fulton Public Library will host Library Card Sign-up activities such as offering two gift baskets as prizes for getting and/or using a physical library card! Our theme is “Travel around the world!”
Since 1987, Library Card Sign-Up Month has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, the ALA and libraries work together in a national effort to ensure every child signs up for their own library card.
The vision of the Canal Fulton Public Library is rooted in our unique past, while being focused on the ever-changing needs of the communities we serve.
