Museum Day Live-David Warther Carvings

We will be featuring an event at David Warther Carvings, called Museum Day Live, where we offer free admission (guided tours) to the public.  Typically it is sponsored by Smithsonian Magazine, however, this year Smithsonian has paused their involvement.  We are continuing to move ahead with it, though, and it will be held on Saturday September 21st, 2024. Our hours will be 10 a.m. – 5 p.m, with the last tour starting at or before 4 pm.
The carvings created by Warther depict the “History of the Ship” from ancient Egypt, 3000 B.C., to the present day, and collectively form an artistic and highly educational exhibit.  He uses antique ivory and ebony wood, and enhances these carvings with delicate hand etching and engraving known as scrimshaw.  Warther is now working on ship #93.
