Shreve United Methodist Blue Christmas Service

Shreve United Methodist Church will host a Blue Christmas service on Sunday, December 18 at 7:00 p.m. The Blue Christmas service is meant for people experiencing loss and facing difficult circumstances during the holidays. It is a quiet, more meditative service for those carrying pain or loss at this time of year and allows those in attendance the opportunity to reflect and grieve in a quiet, gentle atmosphere. The service is a way for the church to reach out to the hurting, who can at times get lost in seasonal celebrations. It offers a message of God’s love, a time for reflection and invitation to light a candle in memory of a loved one or in recognition of other losses.Shreve United Methodist Church will host a 13-week GriefShare program beginning January 5th and continuing each Thursday through March 30th from 7:00-8:30 p.m. For someone who has experienced a loss, the thought of facing all the celebration and busyness of the Christmas season can be hard. A Blue Christmas service may provide an experience that they will find helpful.
