Votes for Women! Celebrating the Centennial of Women’s Suffrage

“Votes for Women! Celebrating the Centennial of Women’s Suffrage,” the Wayne County Historical Society’s 2020 exhibit, will open on Sunday, March 22, with a special event on the historical society’s campus at 546 E. Bowman St. in Wooster. The exhibit, which looks at how the suffrage movement fit into the larger context of women’s political and social activism in Wayne County, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Kister Building. At 2 p.m. Susan Trollinger, professor of English at the University of Dayton, will present “Rebels in Corsets: The Embodied Rhetoric of the Women’s Suffrage Movement” in the 1873 Schoolhouse. A reception will follow. These special opening events are free and open to the public, but donations will be gratefully accepted.

Beginning March 27, the exhibit may be seen during the historical society’s regular hours, Fridays and Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, visit waynehistoricalohio.org.
