Dr. Scott Wisneski will come to Wooster to speak on “Opioid Use During the Civil War Era: Implications for Addiction”. This topic is certainly appropriate for present times! Dr. Wisneski is Associate Professor in the Dep. of Pharmacy Practice at Northeast Ohio University of Medicene (NEOMED). He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy at the Univ. of Sciences in Philadelphia (formerly Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science). Following college Wisneski was appointed as Pharmacy Officer into the U.S. Army Medical Services Corp.. He holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Univ. of Georgia and Masters Degree in Business Administration from Walsh Univ. in Canton. Prior to his position at NEOMED he was Pharmacy Manager at Summa-Akron City Hospital. An interesting fact is that Wisneski’s great-great grandfather served for the Union as part of the 27th Regiment of the Massachusetts Volunteers where he fought at the Battle of Wyse Forks, NC.. He became a prisoner of war and was held in the Libby Prison for a short period of time.
