Wayne County Health Department to Collaborate with Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank to Host Pop Up Food Pantry October 8th
The Wayne County Health Department, in collaboration with the
Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, will host its next monthly pop up food pantry Tuesday
October 8th from 11am to 1 pm. The location for the pop up pantry will be in the parking lot of
our offices at 244 West South Street in Wooster. Individuals and families can receive food if
their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level ($30,120/year for individuals and
adding $10,760 per year for each additional family member). For example, a family of four
whose annual household income is $62,400 or less would be eligible.
“We have been serving between 60 and 75 families each month and are hoping to serve more
families in need in October,” according Wayne County Health Commissioner Nick Cascarelli.
The Wayne County Health Department is also looking for volunteers to help with the pop up
pantries as well. They would need to be able to be there an hour before and a half hour after the
food pantry in addition to the actual pantry itself. For more information or to volunteer, please
visit www.wayne-health.org or call at (330) 264-9590 ext. 207.
