A former Northwestern High School teacher has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison for having an inappropriate relationship with a student. 54-year old Rod Ferrell had earlier pleaded no contest to eight counts of sexual battery. His sentence includes five years of supervision following his release and a lifetime registration as a tier 3 sex offender.
