Former school therapist found guilty of sexual assault

A former Wayne County resident and former mayor of Marshallville has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl last year while working as a school-based therapist at Marlington High School. 52-year-old John Sohar learned his fate Friday in Stark County Common Pleas Court. The third-degree felony charge stems from multiple counseling sessions in which Sohar reportedly touched the girl in a sexual manner. Sohar will be sentenced on Tuesday, as he faces up to 5 years in prison.
