A federal judge has thrown out part of a lawsuit filed against Wooster Police by former patrolman Kenneth Saal. The federal judge in Akron ruled that Saal’s claims of retaliation should be thrown out, but his malicious prosecution claim could move forward. Saal was terminated in 2018 after refusing to come to work after he was acquitted of 18 felony counts in Wayne County Common Pleas Court alleging that he abused the Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway database. A jury trial in Federal Court is set to take place in June.
