The Cleveland Guardians defeated the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night by a final score of 3-2 in 10 innings to begin the three-game home series.

For Cleveland (34-38), the Guardians were held scoreless and were trailing 2-0 until the 7th inning, when shortstop Amed Rosario hit an RBI single and third baseman Jose Ramirez hit an RBI double back-to-back to tie the game at 2-2. As the game went into extra innings, second baseman Andres Gimenez hit an RBI single in the 10th inning to win the game for Cleveland by a final score of 3-2.

Starting pitcher Aaron Civale went 6.2 innings, struck out six batters, and allowed five hits and three walks for two earned runs. Relief pitcher Enyel De Los Santos got his third win of the season for going the 10th inning, striking out a batter, and allowing no hits or walks.

For Oakland (19-56), the A’s got on the board in the 3rd inning when first baseman Ryan Noda hit into a ground out to score a run and give Oakland a 1-0 lead. Oakland would later score again in the 7th inning, when second baseman Tony Kemp hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 2-0.

Relief pitcher Trevor May suffered his fourth loss of the season for going the 10th inning and allowing a walk and a hit for the game-winning run for Cleveland.

The Guardians will continue their home series against the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday, June 21st, with first pitch set for 7:10 p.m.
