A grant from the state’s Clean Ohio Fund will allow the Medina County Park District to buy and preserve a parcel of land in the Chippewa Lake Watershed. The 51.25 acre parcel sits on Lake Road just north of State Route 162 in Lafayette Township, and features multiple streams that flow into Chippewa Lake. The goal is to help protect the Lakes water quality from algae blooms by restoring the wetlands on the parcel. The total grant money awarded to the park district was just over $328,000.
