The Browns got a scare early in their 2021 training camp but it appears there’s nothing to be worried about after cornerback Greedy Williams left practice early.

Williams’ departure was due to a heat-related issue on a muggy afternoon, a source confirmed for cleveland.com. He is expected to be OK. Williams was active early in practice, working with the first team.

Rookie Greg Newsome II took over in Williams’ absence.

Williams, a 2019 second-round pick, missed all of last season with a nerve issue in his shoulder. He suffered the injury on the same day safety Grant Delpit, a teammate of Williams’ at LSU, ruptured his Achilles during training camp.

Williams is back to full speed now and is competing with Newsome for the starting cornerback job opposite Denzel Ward. He started 12 games his rookie season. According to data from Pro Football Focus, he allowed catches on 59.6 percent of targets thrown his way and broke up two passes.
