The Cleveland Guardians defeated the San Francisco Giants on the road on Tuesday night by a final score of 3-1.
For Cleveland (69-77), the Guardians got on the board in the 1st inning due to designated hitter Kole Calhoun grounding into a fielder’s choice to score a run and give Cleveland a 1-0 lead. After the Giants tied the game at 1-1, second baseman Tyler Freeman hit a two-run single in the 6th inning to give Cleveland a 3-1 lead and eventual win.
Starting pitcher Cal Quantrill got his third win of the season for going 6.0 innings, striking out two batters, and allowing five hits and three walks for one earned run. Closer Emmanuel Clase got his 40th save of the season for going the 9th inning and allowing no hits or runs.
For San Francisco (74-71), the Giants only run came in the 5th inning when catcher Blake Sabol hit a solo home run to tie the game at 1-1.
Starting pitcher Sean Manaea suffered his sixth loss of the season for going 5.2 innings, striking out five batters, and allowing two hits and two walks for three runs with one earned.
The Guardians will wrap-up their road series against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, September 13th, with first pitch set for 3:35 p.m.
