The Cleveland Guardians were able to defeat the Chicago White Sox at home on Monday night by a final score of 8-4. The win for Cleveland is only the second win in the last eight games.

For Cleveland (42-42), the 1st inning was a big one with an RBI single by designated hitter Franmil Reyes, a pair of two-run singles by outfielders Nolan Jones and Myles Straw to take a 5-0 lead. Jones and Straw both had big moments later in the 5th inning with a two-run double by Jones and an RBI single by Straw to take a 8-4 lead and eventual win. Starting pitcher Cal Quantrill got his fifth win of the season for going 6.0 innings, striking out three batters and allowing eight hits and four earned runs.

For Chicago (41-44), third baseman Yoan Moncada got the White Sox on the board in 3rd inning with a three-run homerun, while outfielder A.J. Pollock had an RBI single in the 4th inning. Starting pitcher Lance Lynn took his second loss of the season for going 4.0 innings and striking out three batters, while allowing two walks with nine hits and eight earned runs.

The Guardians will be back at home on Tuesday to take on the White Sox in a day-night double header, with the first game scheduled for 1:10 p.m. and the second game scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
