The Cleveland Guardians fell to the Houston Astros on the road Tuesday night by a final score of 7-3. The loss for the Guardians splits the current series at 1-1 each.

For Cleveland (18-21), All-Star third baseman Jose Ramirez continues his great season with a solo homerun in the top of the 1st to give Cleveland the lead early. Ramirez later got another RBI with a groundout in the 6th inning which scored outfielder Myles Straw, while catcher Austin Hedges grounded into a fielder’s choice in the 7th inning to score a run. Starting pitcher Zach Plesac got the loss, going 4.2 innings and striking out five batters but allowing seven earned runs on nine hits.

For Houston (28-16), third baseman Alex Bregman hit a two-run double in the 2nd inning to take a 2-1 lead, while outfielder Chas McCormick hit an RBI double in the 3rd to extend that lead to 3-1. Outfielder Yordan Alvarez hit an RBI single in the 5th inning, but outfielder Kyle Tucker delivered a three-run homerun that same inning which made it to much for the Guardians to overcome. Starting pitcher Framber Valdez got the win for going 7.0 innings and allowing seven hits and three earned runs, but striking out four batters.

The Guardians next game will be the final game in this road series against the Houston Astros on Wednesday, May 25th, with first pitch set for 8:10 p.m.
