The Cleveland Guardians fell to the Seattle Mariners on the road on Thursday evening by a final score of 3-1. The loss for the Guardians snaps a two-game win streak, but keeps the club in first in the American League Central division.

For Cleveland (66-57), their only run on the day came in the top of the 1st inning from All-Star third baseman Jose Ramirez, who grounded into a fielder’s choice to score a run and give the Guardians a 1-0 lead. Starting pitcher Triston McKenzie suffered his 10th loss of the season for going 6.0 innings, striking out four batters and allowing three hits and two walks for three earned runs.

For Seattle (68-57), the Mariners answered back in the bottom of the 1st inning with a three-run homerun by outfielder Mitch Haniger to give the club a 3-1 lead and eventual win. Starting pitcher Marco Gonzales got his ninth win on the season for going 6.0 innings, striking out four batters and allowing four hits and a walk for one earned run.

The Guardians will continue this road series against the Seattle Mariners on Friday, August 26th, with first pitch set for 10:10 p.m.
