The Cleveland Guardians fell to the Detroit Tigers on Monday night by a final score of 6-2, snapping the two-game win streak that Cleveland had entering Monday.

For Cleveland (16-19), third baseman Jose Ramirez got the Guardians on the board first by hitting into a double play to score a run in the 1st inning to take a 1-0 lead. Ramirez would later hit a solo homerun in the 6th inning to cut the deficit to 4-2. Rookie starting pitcher Tanner Bibee suffered his first loss of his career for going 3.2 innings, striking out two batters, but allowing seven hits and four walks for four earned runs.

For Detroit (16-18), outfielder Zach McKinstry reached on an infield single to score a run in the 3rd inning to tie the game at 1-1. That same inning, shortstop Javier Baez hit an RBI single to give the Detroit a 2-1 lead, then third baseman Nick Maton hit an RBI double to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead. In the 4th inning, outfielder Riley Greene hit an RBI double to give the Tigers a 4-1 lead. Finally, second baseman Andy Ibanez hit a solo homerun in the 6th inning, and Riley Greene hit an RBI single to give the Tigers a 6-2 win. Starting pitcher Joey Wentz got his first win of the season for going 5.2 innings, striking out five batters, and allowing three hits and three walks for two earned runs.

The Guardians will continue their home series against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday, May 9th, with first pitch set for 6:10 p.m.
