For Cleveland (43-44), the offense was stagnant until the 7th inning when designated hitter Franmil Reyes was able to score off a fielding error to get the only run of the game. Starting pitcher Aaron Civale only went 1.0 inning due to right hand soreness, striking out a batter and allowing two hits in his limited action. Relief pitcher Sam Hentges suffered his second loss of the season for going 1.2 innings, striking out one batter and allowing three hits and two walks for two earned runs.

For Chicago (43-45), first baseman Jose Abreu got the first run of the game off an RBI double in the 6th, with designated hitter Andrew Vaughn hitting a groundout to score a run that same inning. Starting pitcher Lucas Giolito got his sixth win of the season for going 6.1 innings, striking out five batters and allowing five hits and one unearned run.

The Guardians next game will be a home matchup against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday, July 14th, with first pitch set for 7:10 p.m.
