The Cleveland Guardians fell to the Chicago White Sox at home on Tuesday by a final score of 4-2, tying the series at 1-1.
For Cleveland (21-27), outfielder Will Brennan got the Guardians on the scoreboard in the 3rd inning with a solo homerun to take a 1-0 lead. Later in the 6th inning, first baseman Josh Naylor hit an RBI double to give Cleveland a 2-1 lead, but would not be enough to get the win. Starting pitcher Logan Allen suffered second loss of the year for going 6.0 innings, striking out four batters, but allowed seven hits and a walk for four runs and three earned.
For Chicago (20-30), catcher Yasmani Grandal hit a solo homerun in the 5th inning to tie the game at 1-1. After Cleveland took a 2-1 lead, first baseman Andrew Vaughn would score off a fielding error and second baseman Romy Gonzalez would hit a two-run RBI double to take a 4-2 lead and eventual win. Ace pitcher Dylan Cease got his third win of the season for going 6.0 innings, striking out three batters, and allowing five hits and two walks for two earned runs.
The Guardians will wrap up their home series against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday, May 24th, with first pitch set for 1:10 p.m.
