The Cleveland Guardians earned a much-needed win in the first of two games to be played today, after losing against the Twins last night in the first of a five game series, sinking into a 5 game losing skid. Started today at 1:10pm, the game was won by a final score of 3-2.

For Cleveland, the scoring started in the bottom of the 1st inning with DH Franmil Reyes hitting a double out to right to score SS Amed Rosario. After this, the Guardians would stay quiet until the bottom of the 8th, when it was Rosario’s turn to hit a single to shallow center that was enough to score CF Myles Straw and OF Steven Kawn. Starting pitcher Zach Plezac went 6 innings, allowing 0 runs on 3 hits, while racking up 7 strike-outs, and letting 3 on with walks.The win went to Sam Hentges in relief, for going 1 full inning and allowing 1 run on 1 hit, while racking up 2 strike-outs, and not allowing any walks.

For Minnesota, the scoring started in the top of the 7th, with a triple to deep center from OF Gilberto Celestino to score OF Mark Contreras. Next up was SS Carlos Correa in the top of the eigth, with a 373 ft homerun to right. Starting pitcher Devin Smeltzer also went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, while racking up 9 strike-outs and allowing no walks. The loss went to Emelio Pagan in relief, after he earned 0 outs while allowing 2 runs on 1 hit, with no strikeouts and 2 walks allowed.
