The Cleveland Guardians were able to defeat the Colorado Rockies on the road Thursday evening by a final score of 4-2. The win marks a sweep in the three-game series against the Rockies, as well as it being the fourth straight win for Cleveland and the seventh win in the last eight games.
For Cleveland (32-27), the team got on the board early in the 2nd inning with outfielder Richie Palacios hitting a groundout RBI, while catcher Austin Hedges and shortstop Amed Rosario each hit RBI singles to take a 3-0 lead. Rosario would get another RBI later in the game, in the form of a sacrifice fly in the 7th inning. Starting pitcher Triston McKenzie got his fourth win of the season for going 6.0 innings, striking out six batters and allowing seven hits and one earned run.
For Colorado (27-37), first baseman Connor Joe got an RBI single in the bottom of the 5th inning and designated hitter C.J. Cron hit a sacriice fly in the bottom of the 9th inning to attempt a comeback, but it was too little too late and the Rockies fell to Cleveland 4-2. Starting pitcher Chad Kuhl took the loss for going 5.0 innings, striking out seven batters but allowing two earned runs on seven hits.
The Guardians next game will be a road matchup with the Los Angeles Dodgers to start a three-game series, beginning on Friday, June 17th, at 10:10 p.m.
