The Cleveland Guardians fell to the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday afternoon by a final score of 4-2. The loss marks the third straight loss for Cleveland, along with being the fifth loss in the last six games.

For the Guardians (16-19), designated hitter Franmil Reyes hit a sacrifice fly in the 2nd inning while third baseman Jose Ramirez hit an RBI single in the 8th inning, those being the only runs for the Guardians in the ball game. Starting pitcher Cal Quantrill went 7.0 innings allowing five hits and an earned run while striking out five batters, meanwhile relief pitcher Trevor Stephan gets the loss for going 0.2 innings and allowing three hits and two earned runs.

For the Reds (11-26), outfielder Tyler Naquin hit a solo homerun in the 5th inning. The 8th inning was big for the Reds, with shortstop Kyle Farmer hit an RBI single, outfielder Albert Almora Jr hit a sacrifice and was assisted with a throwing error by Cleveland, and outfielder TJ Friedl hit a sacrifce fly to take a 4-1 lead and eventually win the game 4-2. Starting pithcer Tyler Mahle went 6.1 innings and allowed one earned run on two hits while striking out four batters, while relief pitcher Luis Cessa got the win for going 0.2 innings for allowing no hits or runs and only walking one batter.

The Guardians next game will be a home matchup against the Detroit Tigers on Friday, May 20th, with first pitch set for 7:10 p.m.
