The Cleveland Guardians were able to take Game 2 of the ALDS over the New York Yankees 4-2 in 10 innings, tying the series at 1-1.

For Cleveland, the Guardians got on the board in the 4th inning when All-Star second baseman Andres Gimenez hit an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1. The following 5th inning, the Guardians got another run due to shortstop Amed Rosario hitting a solo homerun to take a 2-1 lead. As the game went into extra innings, the Guardians got two runs in the top of the 10th inning when outfielder Oscar Gonzalez hit an RBI single and first baseman Josh Naylor hit an RBI double, which gave Cleveland a 4-2 lead and win.

Ace starting pitcher Shane Bieber went 5.2 innings, struck out seven batters and allowed five hits and three walks for two earned runs. Closer Emmanuel Clase got the win for Cleveland for going a scoreless 2.1 innings, striking out two batters and allowing one hit and one walk.

For New York, the only runs the Yankees got were in the bottom of the 1st inning when All-Star designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton hit a two-run homerun to give New York a 2-0 lead.

Starting pitcher Nestor Cortez went 5.0 innings, struck out three batters and allowed six hits and three walks for two earned runs. Relief pitcher Jameson Taillon suffered the loss for entering the 10th inning and allowing three hits for two earned runs.

The Guardians and Yankees will face off for Game 3 in the ALDS in Cleveland on Saturday, October 15th, with first pitch set for 7:37 p.m.
