The Cleveland Guardians defeated the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday evening by a final score of 8-0, winning the three-game road series.
For Cleveland (5-2), the Guardians got on the board early in the 1st inning with third baseman Jose Ramirez hitting an RBI double, first baseman Josh Naylor hitting a ground out to score a run, and outfielder Will Brennan hitting an RBI single to give Cleveland a 3-0 lead. The following 2nd inning, second baseman Andres Gimenez hit an RBI double and Josh Naylor hit a sacrifice fly to score a run and give the Guardians a 5-0 lead through two innings. Finally in the 4th inning, Ramirez would hit another RBI double, Josh Naylor would hit another sacrifice fly to score a run, and Brennan hit another RBI single to give Cleveland a 8-0 lead and eventual win.
Starting pitcher Logan Allen got his second win of the season for going 6.2 innings, striking out six batters, and allowing four hits and three walks for no earned runs.
For Seattle (3-4), the Mariners as a team accumulated five total hits, drew four walks and left eight runners on-base.
Starting pitcher George Kirby suffered his first loss of the season for going 3.2 innings, striking out two batters, and allowing 10 hits and no walks for eight earned runs.
The Guardians will next begin a three-game road series against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday, April 4th, with first pitch set for 4:10 p.m.
