The Cleveland Guardians defeated the Kansas City Royals at home on Tuesday by a final score of 8-3. The win for Cleveland is their second straight win, as well as the third win in the last four games.

For Cleveland (21-24), the Guardians got out the gate early in the 1st inning with first baseman Owen Miller hitting a groundout RBI, while third baseman Ernie Clement and second baseman Andres Gimenez both hit RBI singles. Catcher Austin Hedges also was huge with a three-run homerun in the 3rd inning to give Cleveland a 6-2 lead, while outfielder Oscar Gonzalez hit a two-RBI double in the 6th inning to give the Guardians eight runs in the game. Starting pitcher Cal Quantrill got the win for going 6.1 innings and striking out five batters, while allowing six hits and three earned runs.

For Kansas City (16-32), outfielder Kyle Isbel got the Royals first run of the game due to an RBI single in the 2nd inning, while outfielder Andrew Benintendi also hit an RBI single in the 3rd inning. Second baseman Whit Merrifield hit an RBI double in the 7th inning to attempt a comeback, but it was too much and Cleveland was able to win by a final score of 8-3. Starting pitcher Daniel Lynch got the loss for going 4.0 innings and allowing nine hits and six earned runs, while striking out two batters.

The Guardians will be back at at home for the final game of the three-game home series against the Royals on Wednesday, June 1st, with first pitch set for 1:10 p.m.
