The Ohio State Highway Patrol has released crash statistics showing that more than 6,000 people died in crashes across the state between 2019 and 2023.  The highest number of traffic fatalities during the past five years occurred in Franklin County, which reported 570, followed by Cuyahoga County with 487. Hamilton County was third, while Montgomery and Lucas rounded out the top five.   Locally, Wayne County had nearly 9,500 crashes, resulting in 84 deaths.  In Holmes County, there were 3,300 crashes and 32 fatalities.
