The Holmes County Soil and Water Conservation District is now collecting milkweed pods on behalf of the Ohio Pollinator Habitat Initiative.  Milkweed is the only host plant for the monarch butterfly to lay eggs on, and its disappearance across the U.S. within the past 20 years has contributed to an 80% decline in the number of eastern monarch butterflies.  Pods can be dropped off any time through November 6th at a receptacle set up behind the Ag Service Center in Millersburg.  More information can be found on either the SWCD’s website or its Facebook page.
