Big Ten men’s basketball is in for a season of change with the departures of 17 of the top 25 scorers. Indiana is the preseason choice to win the championship after finishing ninth last season. Second-year coach Mike Woodson embraces the challenge. Wisconsin is picked ninth after being co-champion with Illinois last year. Purdue will enter the season outside the Associated Press Top 25 after appearing in six of the previous seven preseason polls. Michigan State is out for the second straight year after having appeared in 21 of the previous 23 preseason polls.

Most of Ohio State’s roster has turned over since the Buckeyes finished their season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament last March. Coach Chris Holtmann will have a lot to learn about the identity of what is basically a new Buckeyes team with a nationally regarded recruiting class and a trio of transfers. Ohio State will have 10 newcomers among the 14 on the roster. Six are first-year players.
