The Indians offense was silent in a 7-1 loss to the Cubs.
Kyle Hendricks (10-4) extended the best streak of his career and the longest by a Cubs pitcher since Jake Arrieta won nine consecutive starts to bridge the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
The right-hander scattered four hits and struck out five without a walk. He also tied Cleveland’s Aaron Civale for the major league lead in wins.
Eli Morgan got the start for the Indians, and worked five innings, giving up four runs on four hits with nine strikeouts. It was a tough sixth inning that got Morgan, as the Cubs would score four runs, three off Morgan. The Indians got on the board thanks to Ahmed Rosario’s RBi in the eighth, but the Cubs added two home runs in the 8th to put it away for good.
The Indians will have Wednesday off as they travel to Minnesota for a four game series with the Twins.
