The Cleveland Guardians got the home win in the first of a three game series against Kansas City by a score of 7-3. The Memorial Day win puts the Guards over .500 for home games, with a record of 9-8.

For Cleveland(now 20-24, Third in the AL Central), 3B Ramirez got the first run of the game for the Guardians and his 49th RBI, sending home CF Myles Straw with a single after a walk from Straw and a sac fly from SS Rosario. In the bottom of the fifth, CF Straw garnered another walk before 3B Ramirez hit a 343 ft two-run HR, gaining his 50th and 51st RBI’S. Eventually the game would sit at a 3-3 tie, before Cleveland took the game back over in the bottom of the Eigth. First DH Josh Naylor got a walk, followed by RF O. Gonzales hitting a single before 2B A. Gimenez hit a 405 ft three-run HR. Later in the inning LF Steven Kwan was hit by a pitch and was able to score on a steal and then a KC error, racking up the final Guardians run.Starting pitcher Z. Plezac pitched 6 innings and only gave up 1 earned run on 5 hits with 5 K’S and 0 walks. N. Sandlin got the win after coming in during the Eigth to pitch 1 inning and gave up 3 walks but no runs or hits.

For Kansas City (Now 16-31, Last in the AL Central), 3B E. Rivera got the first run of the game by smoldering a 420 ft homerun in the top of the third inning.In the top of the Eigth KC was able to eventually tie the game 3-3 after first 2B N. Lopez singled and was scored by CF W. Merrifield hitting a double, then LF A. Benintend hit another double to score Merrifield. Starting pitcher J. Heasly went 6 innings and gave up 3 earned runs on 6 hits with 3 K’S and 3 walks while C. Snider racked up the loss after getting just one out in the Eigth and giving up 3 earned runs on 2 hits with 0 K’s and 1 walk.

The Guardians will be playing at home tommorow (Tuesday 5/31/22) with another 6:10pm first pitch. Cal Quantrill is the presumed starter for the Guardians.
